Made2Measure: Fabled - Edited Gallery

Fri, 07/15/2011 - 11:45AM by Frugal Fashion Week 0 Comments - 375 Views

On Thurs. July 7, Toronto welcomed its newest fashion festival, MADE2MEASURE!

The Gladstone Hotel hosted the pre-launch, titled Fabled. We re-imagined our favourite fairy tale and storybook characters and sent them down the runway! Afterward, we headed out to Queen West for a guerilla photo shoot - we stopped traffic, inspired sidewalk conversation and even forced actress Jessica Biel into hiding when we stopped to shoot at Nyood (um, she thought we were there to shoot her...)!

Made2Measure debuts in 2012 with a 3-day weekend of interactive fashion art, informal parties and pop-ups. Designers, bloggers and fashionistas are invited to re-decorate a room at the Gladstone Hotel; this festival unites fashion, art and community.

WHO WILL BE AT MADE2MEASURE? An excerpt of character stories.

Sun, 07/03/2011 - 1:00PM by Frugal Fashion Candy 0 Comments - 37 Views
ALICE IN WONDERLAND
Eclectic style. Natural beauty. Daydreamer. Wardrobe stylist.
Alice’s trip to Wonderland was a fashion blessing in disguise. Hanging out with a crazed rabbit and a snooty queen prepared her for a life of working on photo shoots with fashion’s most demanding photographers, models and fashion editors. Alice is famous in the fashion industry for her unique interpretation of modern trends. Her quick-thinking makes her an industry darling.

GRETEL (HANSEL & GRETEL
Mix & Match patterns. Laidback hipster. Fashion designer.
Gretel, one half of famous design duo H&G, is the creative brainchild behind a fashion house that is celebrated for its daring use of patterns. Gretel is planning a hostile takeover of the business; rumour has it that her brother has become quite gluttonous and has let himself go. When she’s not in the studio, Gretel spends her days in her beloved ‘hood, lazing about on patios sipping Bubblegum Martinis and inviting fellow hipsters to join her in a high stakes game of Candyland.
Welcome to MADE2MEASURE: FABLED, a world where we’ve transformed our favourite fairy tale and storybook characters into young, modern and stylish women who are eager to prove their place in today’s fast, fashionable world. Each character has been plucked from her fairy tale existence and brought to life; from fashion blogger to PR maven, each character has a story to tell.

Tickets to MADE2MEASURE: FABLED are available at http://m2mfabled.eventbrite.com.

Below is a small excerpt of the stories of the FABLED characters.

See you at FABLED!

Toronto gets a new fashion festival - you're invited to the pre-launch!

Wed, 06/22/2011 - 2:00PM by Frugal Fashion Candy 0 Comments - 38 Views
On Thurs. July 7 (2011), friends and media will gather at Toronto’s legendary Gladstone Hotel (1214 Queen St. West, Toronto ON) for an evening inspired by fairy tale, fashion and beauty.

FABLED features our favourite childhood characters, re-imagined and presented as young, modern, stylish women.
Reputed stylist Cassiopea Tapper (Tchad Magazine, Peace Magazine) has been charged with sourcing local designers and boutiques for modern interpretations of Dorothy’s ruby slippers, Alice’s black mary janes and Little Red Riding Hood’s infamous cloak.

FABLED will be featured as a live installation; fashionistas, bloggers and media are invited to photograph each character in and around the Gladstone Hotel and West Queen West!

Guests will enjoy popcorn and cocktails while special guest DJ Ree (you'll remember him from the Bata Shoe Museum gala last year!) of MTP Sounds leads you to the dance floor with a mix of hip hop, house and everything in between!

Visit http://m2mfabled.eventbrite.com for more information and to reserve tickets.

See you at the MADE2MEASURE PRE-LAUNCH!
Have you ever imagined Little Red Riding Hood as a fashion blogger? We have…

That’s the story behind “FABLED”, the pre-launch of MADE2MEASURE, Toronto’s newest fashion festival!

FREE FFW EVENT: JOIN US AT THE TRUNK & EAT LAUNCH PARTY!

Fri, 06/03/2011 - 11:30AM by Frugal Fashion Week 0 Comments - 35 Views
At the inaugural Trunk & Eat, designer Mady Bone presents her latest collection to an eager audience of fashionistas!

Romantic summer days spent sitting idly at a café, sipping lattes while people-watching inspired Mady to create a soft, feminine collection accented by personal touches including screenprinted images.

For her latest collection, Mady chose easy-care fabrics, including jersey knits and wrinkle-resistant georgette. Soft pinks and off-whites paired with muted shades of brown create the palette for timeless pieces inspired by classic and contemporary structure.

Trunk & Eat begins with an informal fashion show, followed by a trunk show. Mady will host a designer meet-and-greet to discuss the inspiration behind her collection and to outfit guests in her designs. West Queen West’s El Almancen (1078 Queen St. West, Queen W/Dovercourt) hosts this event!
